Funding

The Fresno County Public Law library is a state-local government agency separate from the County of Fresno.

Although it is a public agency, the law library has its own board of directors and is entirely independent from the Fresno County Public Library or any other Fresno County government agency.

Unlike many other independent state-local agencies, the law library does not receive any funding from property, sales, or income taxes. The law library receives the overwhelming majority of its funding from the fees that people pay when they file documents with the Fresno County Superior Court.

Other, minor sources of library funds stem from book sales, overdue fines, and fees from printing/copying. Of course, the Fresno County Law Library is always willing to accept public donations.
